Baseball Batting Tips For Beginners
There are just as many teenagers as there are younger kids who are looking to get more information about baseball batting tips for beginners. I read questions just about every day online from kids aged 13-18 wanting these tips. Baseball is one of the most popular sports in the United States, Canada and Japan and to be honest with you, hitting a baseball is one of the most exhilarating activities someone can do.
In order to learn how to hit a baseball, we have to go over the basics. Without knowing the fundamentals, you will have a tough time hitting the ball.
- Choose a bat that is comfortable for you. Make sure it’s not too heavy or too light.
- Stand properly in the batter’s box, with feet shoulder width apart for proper balance. Stay on the balls of your feet instead of back on your heels.
- Hold the bat in a vertical position with it angled slightly over your back shoulder.
- Your head should be pointed directly at the pitcher. Keep your eyes on the ball at all times. Don’t worry about anything else going on … unless your coach is giving you a sign!
- Wait on the ball. Don’t open your hips or front shoulder too soon or you will swing too early.
- Swing the bat in a nice, fluid motion. For beginners, keep both hands on the bat at all times.
- Be confident. Always go up to bat knowing that you will get the job done. Never give up.
- Practice as much as you can. If you take a little time each day practicing your swing, it will go a long way. Those that work hard usually rise to the top.
- Watch other successful hitters. Whether watching a ball game on TV or at the ballpark, study how other hitters bat. Watch how they run the bases too.
- Have fun. Hitting a baseball is fun to do. You can fail at hitting seven out of ten times and still be considered successful. Enjoy!
