Baseball Hitting Mechanics and the Consistent Swing

Baseball hitting mechanics are very important because without them, you will not hit successfully. These mechanics should be taught at a very young age. I know from experience that if you are taught proper hitting mechanics at a young age then they will stick with you the rest of your life.

That isn’t to say that you may need to tweak part of your hitting every now and then. You will indeed need to practice your hitting as often as you can while you’re playing in your baseball career.  You don’t want a coach who doesn’t teach proper mechanics.  If your child is placed on a team with a coach like that then first understand that maybe the coach hasn’t learned the proper mechanics yet.

That means that he may be in the process or not.  If you are currently a coach or parent it would be wise to research as much information you can before teaching baseball hitting mechanics.

No matter where the ball is pitched and no matter what side of the field you desire to hit the ball, one thing remains. A consistent swing mechanically. Your swing should be that same smooth swing every time. I’m sure you’ve seen your favorite Major League Baseball player hit the ball to left field, center field and right field. Next time, check out their swing. Most of the time, it’s the same swing.  Only tweak your swing under the supervision of your parent’s or coach’s close eye.

Always face towards the pitcher when you’re in the batter’s box and keep your eyes on the ball at all times. Your head will always face the pitcher until contact with the ball. Your eyes are watching and moving. Your head remains because if you move your head then you won’t see the ball. Only at contact will your head move and it should tilt slightly down. After contact you obviously will be running towards first base.

Practice these first basic baseball hitting mechanics as often as you like. You can practice anywhere. Grab your bat and start swinging!
