Finding the Right Baseball Bats
By Jeff Wise | August 8, 2011
Finding baseball bats that work for you is very important, especially if you want to hit the ball well. There are so many to choose from and it can definitely be an investment so you should do your research before making a purchase.
There are a few important factors to consider before finding the baseball bat that’s a perfect fit for you.
- Consider how tall and strong you are right now and estimate where you might be in another year or two. You really don’t want to have to buy a bat every year if you don’t have to.
- Do not buy a bat too big or too small. Definitely find a bat that you can swing easily. Make sure it fits nicely in your hands.
- Don’t buy the cheapest one or a generic bat because it may not be that good.
- Don’t buy the most expensive bat or the most popular brand because it may not be a right fit for you.
- Find baseball bats that are within your budget. No reason to go overboard.
- Try out several different bats at several different stores before buying. Sometimes it makes a big difference once it’s in your hands.
- Practice with your teammates’ bats and see if you like any of those.
- Aluminum or composite … which is right for you and your league? Little League has officially banned composite barrel bats so make sure you check for your situation.
These are just a few factors when looking for baseball bats. I understand that you want to look good with all of your equipment while playing. I understand, because I did the same thing. You just want to make sure that the equipment is the best fit for you and will allow you to perform the best you can.
Kids can easily mow several lawns, deliver papers or find other odd jobs to help pay for their bat. As a parent, you can stop buying coffee for a few months or cut back on just about anything to save up.

I definitely agree that experimenting with your teammate’s bats is very effective in finding what works for you.

Thanks for your comment Mark. Trying out teammates bats is one method to help you decide which bat you should buy.
