Hitting Tips For Baseball

By Jeff Wise | May 12, 2010

I was recently writing about one of the most important hitting tips for baseball and it’s one of those tips where you think you’ve already got it all figured out. I kept writing and writing because there’s actually more to it than you think.

Never take your eyes off of the ball. Much like a pitcher focuses on the catcher’s mitt, you should do the same thing when hitting. Stare at the pitcher and keep your eyes on the ball from the moment it leaves the pitchers hand to the point of contact. Start doing this early on because as you mature as a hitter you’ll be able to know when the pitcher is throwing a breaking ball, fork ball or other tricky pitches because you’ll notice the specific spin of the ball.

Another tip is to never jerk your head when swinging. Always keep your head fixated towards the pitcher. When you swing your head should be pointed slightly down upon contact with the ball. If you jerk you head then you’ll not only take your eyes off of the ball but you’ll open up your shoulder and hips too early.

There’s a lot more hitting tips for baseball that I’d love to share with you so keep your eyes open for more helpful information.
