Hitting Tips That Work
I want to give you a list of hitting tips that work. The key for these tips to work is for you to take a deep dive into these tips and practice them. Even when you’re hitting .300, you will want to practice these tips continually.
- Being a confident hitter – Don’t leave any doubt in your mind that you can go up there and get a hit.
- Knowing the strike zone – Already know in your mind where the strike zone is and be ready to attack the ball if you believe a particular pitch will enter there.
- Hitting preparation – Be mentally focused. Forget about the fans and other surroundings.
- Batting stance – Be balanced in the box on the balls of your feet and dig in.
- Having a consistent swing – Have the same smooth swing each time.
- Learning how to shake slumps – Study up and know when you’re possibly entering a slump so you can make adjustments and get out of it quickly.
- Recognize each pitch and learn how to adjust – Focus in on the baseball and know when a curveball or fastball is coming.
- Situational hitting – With the help of your coach, know what situation you’re in. How many runners are on base and how many outs?
- Each spot in the line-up has purpose – Not one position in the line-up is more important than another. You all have the same job. Get a hit, move a runner over and score runs.
- Eating plans, workouts and having fun – You must be physically fit to play at a high level all season long.
Most of these items are chapters in our hitting tips ebook. Take each tip and work on it one at a time. Seek assistance from a parent, coach or teammate to help keep you accountable.
