How To Become a Better Hitter In Baseball
By Jeff Wise | October 24, 2011
Most parents and kids want to learn how to become a better hitter in baseball. We want this because we would like for our kids to be as successful as possible.
We never make it a goal for our kids to fail. We love our kids plus we essentially become a failure in our minds for any shortcomings they have.
I think that’s just part of parenting.
I don’t think we should stress out and strive for our kids to become Major League caliber players when they’re 12 years old, but we should help them out the best we can.
How To Become a Better Hitter In Baseball – The Parents
I first want to speak to parents who are interested in this subject. Let’s face it, we all know coaches are busy. They have their own lives and they also have to tend to a whole team of players.
The amount of time they have to spend one on one with your child is highly limited. Lots of responsibility rests on the parents’ shoulders from day one.
It’s not just your money that is invested for baseball bats, gloves and league fees. It’s time. You want your son to get better at baseball hitting?
Spend quality time practicing with him. Whether it’s hitting off the tee, demonstrating proper mechanics, hitting live batting practice or an hour of soft toss.
Every little bit of effort on your part will go a long way. Not only making him a better hitter by consistent practice but his confidence will grow all because you’re taking the time to help out.
I know parents are just as busy as coaches, but all it takes is a little practice every day and your kids will definitely become better hitters.
How To Become a Better Hitter In Baseball – The Players
Now I want to speak directly to players. Nobody becomes good at anything unless they practice it often. Most people don’t pick up the guitar and become good overnight.
Many players have natural athletic ability, but even then they won’t become an all-star hitter in a week. My classic example I use over and over is a current MLB star who I played against in high school.
His dad worked with him day after day until he became one of the top hitters in the country. He was drafted right out of high school but chose college instead. Four years later he was drafted again and is still a top hitter.
I think you now know how to become a better hitter in baseball and that is by practicing often and working hard.
