How many times have you experienced going up to the plate with no mission in mind? You just go up there thinking to yourself that you want to hit a home run. Do you know how to hit a baseball with purpose?
Or you go up to bat swinging at anything with only yourself in mind and not the team.
Did I just describe you or other people in your high school league, Babe Ruth league or little league? I bet I did.
I could also ask it like this. Do you know what your mission is each and every time you step in the batter’s box?
Let me share with you a few pointers that will help you determine what your purpose is BEFORE you step into the batter’s box. It should begin while you’re in the on-deck circle.
- How many outs are there?
- Are there any runners on base?
- Where has the pitcher been pitching everybody?
- Are you confident and ready to attack the ball?
Asking yourself these simple questions will prepare you to hit a baseball with purpose. Answering these questions intelligently will put you ahead of the curve versus other hitters in your league.
